let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me learn from you,
bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by
in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may,
for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow,
or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky and want,
more than all the world, your return.
~Mary Jean Irion
I posted this quote/poem once before
(check out baby Caleb!!), and I thought that today was a great day to do it again. August and September were full of special days, but the normal ones filled up much more of that space. Fall is always an interesting season for me because I want nothing more than to sit back and take it all in, but the day-to-day schedule can sometimes leave me feeling a little overwhelmed and less than peaceful. Or worse yet– wishing for a time in the future when things will slow down. This quote is one of my favorite reminders.
