I am spending my morning getting everything ready for a wedding later today (Congratulations Nicki and Rudy!). But before I go, I couldn’t help but share some photos of Micah that I captured earlier this week. Our littlest love is nine-months-old! He has two adorable teeth and is SO READY to start crawling. He is such a sweet little soul, and I can’t imagine our family without him.

I took these photos when Tim was still at work, so I convinced Maggie and Caleb to help me by promising ice cream. I am not ashamed. (They thought the ice cream was worth it!)

New favorite. I love how Caleb’s is holding onto Micah’s ear! He actually does this to Tim and me too.

Happy Weekend!

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing Ali and GP’s gorgeous wedding at River Farm in Alexandria. Their day was lovely and personal, and I was smitten with every perfect detail. I actually met Ali and GP a few months ago when I photographed their engagement session, and I knew then that their wedding was going to be amazing. They’re both so kind and easy going… and they’re incredibly easy to photograph! It was fun for me to reconnect with them on their wedding day surrounded by their family and friends.

Ali actually got ready at her parents’ home, and the setting was amazing!  Ali was calm, gorgeous, and joyful all day… I almost could have photographed her with my eyes closed.

One of my favorite moments of the day was when Ali insisted on going into the barn (in her dress!) so that she could bring out her horse for a photo. Love it!

Before heading to the church, Ali actually changed into her grandmother’s wedding gown. This gown was worn by her grandmother, her mom, and all her mother’s sisters. Amazing! I love the tradition that Ali carried on as she walked down the aisle. The Washington Post is actually doing a story on the heirloom wedding gown, and I can’t wait to see the spread!

GP was also looking quite handsome as well!

River Farm is just gorgeous, and it proved to be the perfect backdrop for all their lovely details.

After their first dance (and while their guests began to enjoy dinner) Ali changed back into her first dress, and she and GP met me outside for just a few more portraits. The light was incredible, and I loved getting a little more time with these two…

Last weekend, I met Caroline and Johnny for a sweet engagement session at The Madeira School outside of D.C. Caroline actually went to school there, and I loved exploring the campus with both her and Johnny. It was such a gorgeous evening! Caroline and Johnny are getting married this August, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them. They’re both incredibly sweet and so easy to talk to. Spending the evening with them was a lot of fun, and I know their wedding is going to be amazing!

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing Kate and Colin’s gorgeous wedding at Woodend Sanctuary. The day was just beautiful, and Kate and Colin are such a sweet and genuine couple; I loved watching them become husband and wife! Their ceremony and reception could not have been more beautiful and intimate. And the love that they both have for their families was evident in the way that everyone was involved the ceremony and celebration. I had such a great time capturing their day.

Kate’s father passed away ten years ago, and each of her three older brothers played a special role in the wedding. (Her oldest brother Brendan rode to the church with her before walking her down the aisle.) It was so touching.

In the small amount of time that we had before sunset, we were able to capture some of the most tender and intimate portraits. Kate and Colin were just so happy to be married… it was probably my favorite part of the whole evening.

Instead of wedding cake, Kate and Colin’s guests showered the couple with homemade pies. It was such a sweet (and delicious!) touch at the end of the evening!

Last week, I met up with Stacy and Jennings for a sunset engagement session at Morven Park, and I had such a lovely time! I always enjoy capturing couples together before their wedding day, and it was a lot of fun to walk around the park and hear about Stacy and Jennings’ wedding plans. It made me even more excited about their summer wedding! But even more than dreaming about their future celebration, I really enjoyed watching how much these two care for one another. They were instantly relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, and I know it was because they were there together. It was so sweet to watch! Stacy and Jennings: Thank you so much for the fun session. You two are a blast, and I can’t wait to celebrate with you both on your wedding day!

– March is over already?! I can’t believe how mild it was last month. The days that I spent at home were most often enjoyed outside, and I feel like the month flew by in a haze of delightful Spring weather. If only it could stay this lovely for the next five months! I guess that’s why people move to California…

– I can’t get enough of this little blue eyed baby.

– But when I took that photo, he’d apparently had enough of me…

– Instead of sharing about our life this month, I’m going to share two fairytales. Maggie makes up stories all the time, but I want to start being intentional about recording them. So, I asked both her and Caleb to tell me a fairytale (while I taped it), and this is how they responded…

Maggie: “Once there was a princess who loved to dance. But suddenly there was a bear who came into the castle and scared her and she flew into the air. But then the prince caught her and they got married. And they ate some good food. The end.”

Caleb: “Once there was a princess… uh… with a DRESS!… uh… a princess… (insert lots of spinning)… The End!”

– And that just about sums those two up.

Last weekend (on St. Patrick’s Day!) I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Elizabeth and David’s wedding at The Mayflower Hotel in D.C. The event was just gorgeous, and these two were such a joy to photograph! They’re both so much fun and easy to be around, and the entire day felt joyful and effortless. Every detail was just perfect, and Elizabeth and David were so calm and sweet with one another. I loved getting the chance to capture their celebration!

I think St. Matthews is my favorite church in DC. So beautiful!

The Mayflower looked amazing. I was in love with the forsythia centerpieces!

Before their wedding day, Elizabeth told me that one of her main desires was that all the guests would have a great time at the reception. I think her dream came true! The dance floor was packed all night long!

Last weekend, I met Lauren and Hugh for a really fun engagement session outside of the city.
